Thoughts – 2 May 2019 – Birth watch? Finding a Burano

As I sit with my wife and my Yacht-Master at the hospital, waiting for the birth of our son my thoughts are scattered. The induction process is a long one and my wife is watching a movie on her phone while I keep tabs on the market and sift over WUS and CWC forum posts.

I’m curious if anyone else considered what watch they were going to wear for the birth of their child / children; I had wanted to wear the MV Burano on blue Strapholic leather as it’s my recent surprise passion but after considering all of the realities of birth I ended up choosing the Rolex Yacht-Master 16622 as I still have it on a bracelet. I also believe that I’ll have my YM forever and when our son is old enough he will inherit the very watch that I wore at his birth. I feel like this is a really special thing.

Is this just me?

I’m I crazy?

Let me know what you think in the comments below.

In other thoughts… I found a few of the “sold out” MV Redentore Burano floating around from third party sellers:

North America: Amazon

Europe: Watchbandit

I’m sure their are more floating around, and I have never used WatchBandit, but it shows that you can still get you hands on this lovely watch new from the grey market. Still, I like big seller like eBay and Amazon for their assumption of risk and liability.

For you Canadian reader their is, current as of this writing, a beautiful Rolex Yacht-Master 16622 for sale on the buy & sell page of CWC at just $9000.00 CAD asking.

With the impending birth of our son I won’t be posting for a few days as I’m sure you can all understand. I am working out an idea for a Strap v Strap triple threat comparison of 3 watches wearing straps and who wears each best. More to follow on this but if you have any ideas for future articles please comment below!

Thanks for reading and have a great day!
